A wedding cake consultation is the perfect opportunity for us to get to know each other before we get to work on preparing and bringing to life your dream cake. It’s the time we can get together, brainstorm ideas, find out what works and get a real feel for your wedding and your plans. Naturally, with the government restricting social meetings, it’s a concern for many brides how exactly they can go about having a wedding cake consultation.
Every bit of feedback I’ve received from past bride and grooms has been nothing short of glowing, I have absolutely no doubts that your cake will be the wedding cake you’ve dreamt of and perfectly designed and made with your ideas at the forefront, but, why wouldn’t you want to do some cake testing before you get the real deal? If nothing else, it’s a chance to devour some yummy cake and have a good natter about your wedding and your plans.
I wanted to share a post with you today letting you know exactly how cake consultations work from afar and how the process happens. It’s not just social distancing that this process can happen for, so if you have stumbled across my website and like what you see from somewhere slightly further afield across the country, or even overseas, then this process will work perfectly for you too. A chance to get a taste for my cakes and work out how we can make this happen for you! On this page, you’ll find useful information about virtual cake consultations. I’m happy to answer any questions at any time that you might have too, so feel free to get in touch on social media or by email if you have any queries!
When and why you should book a virtual consultation
Just like face-to-face consultations, you should schedule a virtual consultation with me as soon as you know your wedding date. I get booked up really quickly, so it’s never too early to enquire about your date. A consultation is a great way to get to know each other and for you both to have a chance to taste different flavours. It’s also the perfect opportunity to share ideas and ask questions!

First Step: Getting in touch
Of course, the first step to sorting out your cake consultation is for you to make the initial contact with me, so we can schedule a date and time for our video consultation. In the next days leading up to your video consultation, it is a good idea to gather together some bits and pieces ready for the meet. It might be a good plan to sort out any ideas and plans you have regarding colours, themes, sizing, styles and designs. I’d recommend taking a look at my galleries across social media and on my website for more inspiration.

Second step: Posting your samples
What a delightful and yummy time! There are plenty of flavours that are listed on my website but if you do have any special requests then do ask as the chances are I’m able to accommodate to your desires. Let me know which flavours you’d like to sample, and I’ll get these cakes baked for you. I post these out in a beautiful little box for you to taste and try. We’ll discuss the flavours in our virtual meeting.

Third Step: Meeting up from afar
During our virtual meeting, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss finer details about your wedding cake, including styles, colours, your cake stand and even the timings. On your big day, it’s me who will come and set up and be doing lots of finishing touches (out of the way so there’s no stress to you!) to make your cake pristine and perfect. In our virtual meeting, I’ll draw up a sketch design for you which I’m sure you’ll love. We’ll make sure you’re completely happy with everything from colours to shape to flavours.

Fourth step: Confirmed and done!
After the confirmation that you’d like to go ahead with your cake and the pre-agreed deposit has been paid, I’ll draw up a finalised sketch design which will be yours to keep. These sketches are a beautiful forever-lasting memento of your cake which will be perfect to put in a wedding keepsake box. I’ll also send over an order form for you to fill in, so all of the fine details are tuned and clear. I’ll be here for you every step of the way so please, please, please know that you can get in touch and know your cake is in safe hands!
Social distancing, or living far away, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on having Cakes by Sophie Page bring your dream wedding cake to life. For those of you that are local to the West Midlands, I’ll be pleased to offer face-to-face consultation as soon as the government allows.
